Recently one of Beta Steel’s customers purchased new equipment that required cut length bars.  We were given the opportunity to quote their steel needs and were eventually awarded the business.

When the time came for our first shipment of bars to arrive, we were confident in our product.  We had sent samples to the machine manufacturer to test on the specified equipment without any problems being reported. 

Once the machine arrived, because our customer had a very small window to work within, there was pressure to start producing parts immediately.    Initially, the bars were not running correctly in the machine. It was now necessary to research the problem and develop a solution to remedy the problem.  The bars were exactly to the spec that we were provided and had been tested without any issues. After further investigation, we discovered a miscommunication that resulted with the machine manufacturer using their own stock to test the equipment instead of the Beta Steel samples.  The machine manufacturer also failed to inform the company that there needed to be a straightness tolerance similar to that of a turn, ground and polished (TGP) bar. It caused the machine to only run at 50% speed or less.

With time of the essence, we knew our customer was looking to Beta Steel to develop a solution that met specification without any cost increases.  We had to find an answer. To get the customer up and running, we had bars expedited to be processed to the new tolerance (TGP). We then researched for someone who could hold the tolerance without the (TGP).   After some research and fast action, Beta Steel managed to meet the client’s delivery dates and keep the same pricing.

Most companies would have canceled the order or raised the price.  We did neither.  We stood by what we promised.
